Getting serious now
Today marks just two months until my 17th Alcatraz Swim on June 6th. Needless to say, I have ramped up the swimming to make sure I am ready. I am still swimming indoors — last year even on May 1 Walden Pond was a frigid 49 degrees. I’m pretty tolerant of cold water but below about 52 the ice cream headache you get is hard to swim through. So indoors I am doing 10,000 meters a week in three workouts and will soon drop that to two indoor workouts of 3,000 meters each and two outdoors of 1.5 miles each. I am hoping to have some company when the outdoor swimming begins. My friend Tori plans to swim with me as does Kipp. I hope they both mean it! In addition to the swimming I will be ramping up the biking as well because August arrives sooner than you think and I have to have the one leg ready for 192 miles by then. I can’t wait until after the Alcatraz swim for that. As usual both of these are fund-raising events. I am far far from my minimums on my events so I could use all the help I can get to reach my charitable goals. Please take a look at my fund-raising page here.
