Latest talk abstract

This talk will weave together the war stories of an incorrigible entrepreneur, how cloud computing will transform the way we get our computing done more dramatically than any other time since computers starting being used by corporations, and how extreme life challenges can lead to extreme responses that help prepare a person for the rough and tumble world of high tech startups and other challenges life tends to throw at all of us.

From his just-published book The Cloud at Your Service, Jothy Rosenberg will put cloud computing into perspective with what others are doing or will do with the cloud. He will explain why this IT transformation will have a broader and deeper impact on corporate computing than any other IT innovation in history. By way of example, Jothy has been advising many agencies in the federal government (including defense and intelligence agencies) as this time, the feds are moving more aggressively than the private sector to gain the economic and scalability benefits of cloud computing. Jothy will also make ten critical predictions for where this next stage of the IT evolution is going over the next two decades.

Jothy used the cloud extensively in his last two startups. He will talk about all of his many startups and give some amusing (and some frightening) war stories of his many years as an entrepreneur. He likes to say that what best prepared him for being an incorrigible entrepreneur was being told at age 19 that he had zero chance of survival after two bouts of cancer one of which took his right leg. He will present some reflections from his book Who Says I Can’t about how to fight back against whatever tries to hold you back. In his case it was extreme sports that did the trick and you will see some of those in action. He will close by presenting his next chapter in entrepreneurship as he has just formed his latest ‘startup’ Can Do Productions, LLC, a TV production company, to bring out a new reality TV series with the same name as his book.

This talk runs about 90 minutes. I will be giving this at Netflix in Los Gatos on April 11.
